It’s that time of year again. Back-to-school chaos is coming at us full force, so brace yourself and take it one step at a time. No need to stress over new lunch box ideas because your YENSA family has you covered.
We’ve hand-picked eight ingredients from our Superblacks and SuperOrange Essences that will double as lunch box staples this school year. These superfoods are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, so mom will feel great about sending the kids back to school this year.

Black rice is the first superfood you can incorporate into their lunchbox to ensure your child stays fuller, longer. In addition to being filling, black rice is also completely unprocessed. Simply replace the traditional white or brown rice in any dish with black rice, which can be found at most grocery stores.

Chia seeds are also high in fiber, which is critical to a healthy diet. On top of controlling your child’s bottomless appetite, having a diet high in fiber prevents diabetes and heart disease as well. Sneak chia seeds into their lunch box by blending them into smoothies, adding them to pasta sauce, or even sprinkling the seeds onto a slice of pizza!

Black raspberries are loaded with nutrients that promote physical growth, improve joint alignment and muscle tone. Pack a serving size of Korean black raspberries in a baggie for your child to snack on through the day. Raspberries can even be juiced, and made into a fresh drink, for quick and easy consumption.

Oranges are a classic superfood lunch box necessity, and their high vitamin C content gives them every right to be! Cut an orange into slices and toss them in for a boost in immunity to fight the many germs that live in your child’s classroom.

Carrots are another superfood classic that we recommend. On top of also being rich in vitamin C, these nutritional superheroes contain the largest amount of vitamin A, giving them their beautiful bright orange color. Pack up some carrots in a baggie with ranch or blue cheese packets that your child can enjoy dipping them in.

Grapefruit, rich in fiber, vitamin C, and potassium is a key flu-fighting food your child needs to keep his or her body strong. Sprinkle some organic cane sugar onto a slice of grapefruit to sweeten the taste, or squeeze and bottle it into a fresh and tasty juice.

Pumpkin is the perfect superfood to corporate as we say goodbye to summer and dive into fall. It’s rich in both fiber and vitamin A, like most superfoods, and can help sharpen your child’s eyesight. Bake fresh mini pumpkin muffins or a sweet batch of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that your child will enjoy pulling out at lunch time.

Finally, raw honey is a superfood that can be added to the lunch box in many different ways. Raw honey is extremely nutrient dense, and increases energy, heal wounds faster, and even soothes an upset stomach. Pick up sticks of fresh honey from your nearest farmers market to toss in the lunch box. They even come in different fruity flavors that we know your kid will love.
