I am sure almost all of us have made the resolution to stay fit or active this year, but sometimes the chilling weather can make that hard.  When the temperature drops, it can be hard to stay active with normal activities, like jogging or swimming. On top of this, when the holidays are over and work and school start back up, it is sometimes difficult to find the time throughout the week to go to the gym.  Whether you are dealing with freezing temperatures, rain, snow, sleet, or even if you are simply in a time crunch, here are some quick 8 minute exercises you can do in the comfort of your own home this winter!

  1. 1. Yoga

If you aren’t in much of a cardio mood, yoga is a great way to improve your balance and flexibility, while also being an amazing way to meditate.  If you are a beginner or just want to try some new poses, there are tons of YouTube videos on different daily poses that will relax your mind and body.

2. YouTube Workouts

Speaking of YouTube, there are several fun workout routines posted by actual workout instructors and personal trainers that will teach you different exercises and the proper way to do them.  Just search the type of workout you want to do!

3. Cleaning

Hmm.. You probably were not thinking this would be on the list! You might have not even known how physical cleaning actually is.  Tidying up the house, mopping, vacuuming, and wiping things down will actually increase your heart rate tremendously!

4. Jump Rope

Jumping rope can actually burn up to 20 calories in just one minute. Not only is this an easy and fun exercise to do at home, but it is highly effective in cost and burning calories!

5. Hula Hoop

Another one that you might have done as a kid, but hooping actually burns fat all while strengthening your butt, hips, and core!

6. Active Video Games

The Wii Fit is a great way to get you off of your feet! Active video games are a great, fun way to stay active indoors.

7. Use The Stairs

Simply utilize the stairs in your house or apartment complex to do some exercises.  Just walk up and down a few times to get your blood flowing and to increase your heart rate!

8. Exercise Your Mind

Staying active and fit does not have to mean physical exercises.  Did you know extra stress can actually lead to health conditions and weight gain? Take 10 minutes out of each day (preferably in a space in your home where you can be comfortable) to meditate! This will reduce some of the stress you had experienced that day.

Now, you have no excuses!
